SEPTEMBER  2025  NEWSLETTER     "43 years of Conservation"
     NACC’s next meeting to be held on Wednesday, September 10 , at 7 pm in the club house.

We are cleaning the club house and property on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 9am for the upcoming Golf Outing,   Help if you get this notice in time.

Our 19th Annual Golf Outing is on September 20 at Brookhill Golf Course, all proceeds benefit 5th & 6th grade kids going to the Karl E. Kelly Conservation Camp.  18 holes, tee time 8am, prizes, morning breakfast-7am at course & prime rib dinner at the club house.  Cost is the same  at $300 per four man team, plus optional $20 skins per team.  Chairman, Casey Gilmore  812-577-5078 Co-Chair,Slugger Kuebel  812-221-0397.     Co-Chair, George Schmeltzer, will be serving his famous prime rib dinner.   We need volunteers to work:   Friday, Sept. 19 at 1PM PRE-SET UP CREW -TENTS, tables and chairs   EARLY KITCHEN CREW-club house 4:30 am,  GOLF COURSE CREW- club house 5:15 am & Leave for golf course at 6 am,  DINNER PREPERATION CREW -club house 8:30 am.  Let these guys know if you can help.  Per Slugger, we are maxed out on the number of foursomes.

 

The BEN DALL LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD will be presented to this years winner at our 19th Annual Golf Outing dinner at the club house on September 20, 2025.  All are invited to come and witness the moment around 2 - 3 pm.

 

Are you thinking about planting tree seedlings for next spring. Now is the time!!!  Every fall our club takes up an order and places it through the DNR state nursery at Vallonia, IN.  Our DEADLINE is September 25th. Contact Dale 812-212-2601 for info.  He has available a list of seedlings that can be sent to you by "email" for viewing if you like.   And is listed on our website.

 

SCATTER BOARD Squares are available to purchase at the meeting,  Two dollars per square.   Winner takes $35.00 of it.

 

Executive Board Semi-annual audit/business review:  The Board went over the list of maintenance items still needing done and deleted those completed. We reviewed our Trustees  quarterly and annual list of things they check and maintain.  From a financial perspective, we have $484.90 more than we had on 6-30-24.  On 6-30-25, Total cash  in checking account was $34,693.59.  Of this certain amounts are dedicated to :  Mark Lewis Memorial - Karl E. Kelly Camp, $$9308.27;  Mowing- 4 months left, $600.00; Yard Maintenance and supplies, $400.00, Adding on a front porch, $0.00 estimate needed yet. Dedicated funds equals $10308.27, which leaves available to the club $24,385.32.  The Board reviewed all our state and federal entity forms that we are required to file, and we are in compliance with all.  Also, the Ben Dall Award Committee was announced as: Chuck Schmeltzer, Slugger Kuebel & Gutz Callahan.  The board agreed to keeping the golf outing entry fee the same as last year, even though some cost are going up.  And the  trustees requested to have our December Rifle Raffle tickets available for the golf outing.  The board did discuss the addition of  a porch being added on to the entrance of the club house reaching out approximately 9 feet, and adding new 5" gutters on the building. The board is scheduled to meet next, on January 21, 2026.

 

IWF - Indiana Wildlife Federation Director, Dan Boritt sent out a Sign-on Request to us and other conservation clubs, to join them Healthy Waters Coalition of securing Federal funding to restore the Ohio River Basin to its former glory.  This project involves 15 states in the watershed and will strive to secure new federal investments from US Congress to implement a regional restoration plan, thereby supporting local, state, and regional clean water priorities.  More discussion at the meeting.

 

NACC made a donation of $100 to the North Dearborn Conservation Club as a hole sponsor of their annual golf outing.
