Karl E. Kelly Conservation Youth Camp Update

Our February 1st deadline has passed and we have registered a record 19 campers this year! This brings our total sponsorship over the past 19 years to 166 campers. A great honor and a continued tribute to our club’s education mission, first suggested by past president Mark Lewis. Your support of our annual golf outing makes this possible.

Membership Dues Reminder

There are still a few members who need to renew their NACC dues. Please do so promptly to continue receiving your newsletter and to show your support. New members and friends are always welcome!

  • Annual NACC Dues: $12.00
  • Optional IWF Affiliate Membership (discounted): $40.00 (standard rate is $50)

Mail to: New Alsace Conservation Club, PO Box 302, Sunman, IN 47041

Indiana Wildlife Federation (IWF) Affiliation Dues Increase

NACC received notice from the IWF that affiliation membership dues are increasing for the first time in over 15 years. Everything has doubled. Our affiliation dues are now $200, to be paid from the Treasury and approved by membership. Additional NACC members may join IWF as affiliates for $40 (discounted from the new standard $50 rate). All affiliated dues are to be paid in January.

The executive board completed the financial audit for 2025. Items reviewed included maintenance needs, projected expenses, updated calendar of events, compliance forms, and fundraising adjustments. A detailed review will be presented at the next meeting.

Did You Know? The American Chestnut

The American Chestnut was once a dominant tree in the eastern U.S., prized for its rot-resistant wood. An exotic fungal pest introduced from Asia devastated the species — by 1950, nearly all American Chestnuts were gone. The American Chestnut Foundation is working to restore the tree by grafting existing specimens with blight-resistant Chinese chestnut varieties. The trees produce heavy annual crops enjoyed by both humans and wildlife. And very tasty!
