NACC’s next meeting to be held on Wednesday, June 14th, at 7 pm in the club house.  June 14 is Flag Day, fly it.

Hello Summer, It is sure hot and dry out.  Be careful when outside for long periods of time and stay hydrated!

July 12 is our Rifle Raffle ( next meeting)-  We are giving away is a Mossberg 6.5 Creedmore Rifle with a Vortex Red dot Scope and Wood  stock.  There will be only 250 tickets sold and they are $10.00 each.  It is time to begin turning in your tickets that are sold.  If you haven’t purchased your ticket yet, stop by Klump’s Tavern or contact one of the trustees, Slugger, Gutz or Dave Henlein.  This is a great way to help support the club in paying their bills.

Fourteen past year members have not renewed their dues this year, if you are one of the them, please consider.  This will be your last issue of the monthly newsletter mailed out. Just a reminder all newsletters are archived on our website for you to view.

Around the end of May, our tree in the middle of the Ben Dall Park (Eagle Scout project) was blooming. It was a first time Dale had seen it bloom.  But nobody seem to know what type of tree it was.  So he took a picture of it and went on line to search the Purdue Extension website and found it to be a Japanese Ivory Lilac Tree.  It is non-native and used by cities and in personal residences  to enhance street appeal. The extension office does consider it a non-invasive tree that doesn’t spread like the Bradford Pear tree!

Dale says our #35th fishing derby was another success.  We had 150 registered fishermen, with 115 adults & 35 children under 12.  We had 93 sponsors of the derby that donated a total value of $7015.65 in cash, merchandise & gift certificate/cards. A big thank you goes to those sponsors!  With our registration fees, raffle and tip board income, and some misc. income we were able to make $2539.03 for the club Treasury. Dale would like to thank the derby committee, workers, derby supporters, all the fishermen, and Lake In The Pines for making it all possible and a great community event.

WINNERS OF THE DERBY were:  Children under 12 categories – Catfish,  No Catfish Caught (record),  Bass – Charlie Craig .76 lb, Blue Gill – Graham Westerfeld .54 lb.  Adult categories – Catfish – Clint Graf 5.92 lb,  Bass – Clint Graf 1.23 lb, Blue Gill – Kim Essert .60 lb.   Special Catch Tag Fish – none caught.  Raffle Winner was Preston Hampton.   All fishermen did receive a door prize and derby hat for their participation.  We are looking forward to next years derby to be held on May 4, 2024.

Included today is a Discount Card from Dunham’s Sports, located in Harrison, OH that we received for our members for you to use.

At our last meeting it was brought to our attention, Dillon Rullman  of Scout Troop 646 (New Alsace) was wanting to know if our club had any Eagle Scout project ideas that he could consider as he’s pursues his Eagle Scout .   We ask you to bring ideas that we can consider or forward them to Dale to present at the meeting.  Anything you may think that would enhance our club  property can help.

Our eleven campers will be attending the Karl E. Kelly Conservation Camp starting June 18.  I’m sure they’re all excited!

Club House is Closed on June 10 – member Phil Buckhave is having a graduation party.

Dues were paid to the Indiana Wildlife Federation to keep our long standing affiliation going with them.

Our club made a donation of $50 to the St. Paul’s Church Picnic Raffle.

Honey Bee hive was split per Dave Henlein, we now have two healthy hives buzzing.

Did you know that Versailles St. Park is the second largest in Indiana with nearly 6000 acres, and most inaccessible to the public.  Southeast Indiana Mountain Bike Association began changing that in 2012 when formed.  They help build & maintain nine park trails totaling 24 miles.  The parks first multi-use trail was completed in 2004.  Versailles St. Park has more hidden gems available  now!
