NACC Newsletter – July 2023

NACC’s next meeting to be held on Wednesday, July 12th, at 7 pm in the club house.   Come on out, we’d like to see ya!

July 12 – THIS MEETING is our Rifle Raffle,  a Mossberg 6.5 Creedmore Rifle with a Vortex Red dot Scope and Wood  stock.  .   Turn in your tickets now or drop off at the tavern and Richard will pick them.   If you didn’t get a ticket yet,  you may luck out and get one at the meeting before the drawing.  Sometimes there are 4 or 5 turned back in.

Dillon Rullman  of Scout Troop 646 (New Alsace) has selected one of the two project proposals suggested at our last meeting. A dock on the corner of the pond with handicap accessibility or a flag pole out front of the club house.  Dillon selected the flag pole project.  We are honored he chose NACC over others in pursue  of his Eagle Scout merit.

The Honey Bee hive was split per Dave Henlein last month , we will get a progress report on how they are doing. Dave was able to harvest our first honey last month, about 16 – 18 pounds , and is available for purchase to support the hive upkeep.  Tasted  real good!

If you ever been to the club fishing or just feeding the fish, you probably spotted the “white catfish”.  Well it seems, he is no longer there, he will be missed !

Back at the January Executive Board meeting, Derby Chairman, Dale informed the board that he will run the fishing derby for two more years, and then retire from it.  He suggested at the time to bring someone on as a co-chair to learn the ins and outs.  He also expressed that the derby income generated is a large part of the budget that pays the bills.  So, at last month’s meeting he announced his intentions to the “few members in attendance”, and as mentioned, there is time for someone to learn about the details of the derby.  When Dale talks about the derby, he can get be a little windy about it, as those in attendance know. There was a  pause….. So we would like to introduce to you all, our first derby co-chair,  Jennifer Klump.  Please congratulate her for stepping up, and give her all the support needed to keep our club moving forward.

A lot of people have been calling and asking about our upcoming 17th Annual Golf Outing on September 16th at Brook Hill Golf Course.  Mark your calendar!!!!  Chairman, Casey Gilmore and  committee has informed us that the entry fee will stay the same at $75.00 per golfer, plus optional $20 Skins per Team.  More details at the meeting as to when they begin accepting team sign up.

The club made a $50 donation to the Sunman Life Squad last month.

EXECUTIVE BOARD Mtg. Semi-annual will be held Tuesday, July 18 at 6:30 pm in the club house. This years progress review.

We were sadden to  hear of the passing of club member Tom Klump. He will be truly missed.  Our sympathy goes out to his wife Kathy, and their families.

A native plant – Iron Weed can be found along roadsides, and seen in old fields or pastures as they’re avoid by livestock.  As a native perennial in the Aster family, it can grow 6-10 feet, and can adapt to many soil conditions, its  purple flowers form a dense cluster on the top of its stiff stem and begin blooming now in July to September.  Late summer to early- fall flowering plants are important to wildlife because they help them prepare for winter.   Butterflies feed on iron weed nectar as they produce their last round of caterpillars that will overwinter. Plus, the fertilized queen honey bees  need lots of nectar before their winter hibernation.
