It is time to ORDER YOUR TREE SEEDLINGS for 2024 spring delivery.  The tree seedling selection and prices are copied on the backside of this newsletter for your convenience.  Please note the deadline for ordering through our club is Thursday, September 28.  If you are interested in ordering contact Dale at 812-212-2601.  At this time, we haven’t gotten a volunteer to pick our order up from the Vallonia State Nursery.  If there is no volunteer, it will cost an additional $50 per bundle of tree seedlings  you order that will be shipped through FedEx.  No payment is required at the time of order, the nursery will send a confirmation statement  in November of seedlings coming, then you will be contacted for payment to be made to NACC.  Vallonia Nursery is located south of Bedford, IN.

At this meeting, Treasurer, Richard Kuebel will be distributing Gun Raffle tickets.  On December 13 we will be raffling off a Mossberg Patriot Rifle, choice of  caliber, with a vortex scope and wood stock.  Or  you can get an “in-store credit” where we purchase it and pick your own gun of choice of equal or greater value, The Rusty Buck – Hunting & Outdoor Lifestyle in Batesville.  Tickets are $10.00 each.  We are only selling 250 tickets and will have some available at Klump’s Tavern too.

The Executive Board report – from the Semi Annual meeting held on July 18th.  President Chuck Schmeltzer opened the meeting with a review of last summers meeting.  A few items on the maintenance list were completed and a couple added. We need a few more volunteers to help widdle the list down…..  Our treasurer reported  that on 6-30-23 checking account had $24,114.65, petty cash had $258.00 for a total of $24372.65.  Of those funds, $7341.58 is designated to the Mark Lewis Memorial Fund – Karl Kelly Camp.  $50.00 for misc. kitchen upgrades,  and $600.00 for property mowing.  Thus, leaving $16381.07 available for operating expenses and project work.  –  It was noted that our Federal 990 form, Indiana Business Entity filing, Oxbo Inc.dues &  IWF dues were all up to date.

–  The board and members approved the Eagle Scout project of Dillon Rullman of installing Flag Poles on our property.

–  The board had discussion about how the club house entrance door is always weathered from the south sun.  That led to, how to protect it….. It was decided by the board to add on a porch across the 24 foot south side and extend out 6 or so feet.  This would give better protection to the door and give members an outside shelter if needed.  And it was discussed to replace all the gutters with 6 inch and include screens  attached to the top.  This was presented to the membership last month of which they approved to move forward on.  A Committee was appointed that includes:  George Schmeltzer, Dave Henlein & Chuck Schmeltzer.  Minutes are posted in club house.

It  was noted that our club golf outing filled up in two weeks.  And we have 28 teams of four, two more than last year.  Maxed out!!!

Yours in Conservation,

Chuck Schmeltzer,  President              Phone:  812-623-4103
