NACC Newsletter – December 2024

NACC’s next meeting to be held on Wednesday, December 11, at 7 pm in the club house.

The Board of NACC would like to wish you and all your family a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.

2025 Election of officers and trustees. Nominations are still being accepted at this December meeting and then closed. At which time the election will be held. Nominations so far from our November meeting are: President – Chuck Schmeltzer, Vice President – Casey Gilmore, Secretary – Dale Back, Treasurer – _, Trustee 3 yr. term – Slugger Kuebel. If you or if you know of anyone interested in serving the organization in this capacity, please come forward at this meeting. NOTE: Treasurer, Richard Kuebel has declined nomination for another term. We would like to thank Richard for his many years of service. So, we need someone to step up and fill this nomination opening!

NACC is looking for 25 or more children in the 5th or 6th grade who would be interested in attending the Indiana Conservation Officer Organization’s – ICOO Karl Kelly Youth Conservation Camp, which will be held this coming summer in June (usually the third week) for 7 days. NACC will select children who sign up by February 1, 2025. The cost of the camp is paid for by NACC. If your child, nephew, niece or grandchildren likes outdoor adventure, this camp is a must for them. It is a full week of fun that they will enjoy and remember for a long time. past information at this time and after the first of year, the new information will be available, as in the past. Remember all registration must go through the NACC for us to pay. Providing the child’s name, a contact person and phone number and e-mail address are essential to enter and complete our camp forms. SCATTER BOARD WINNER-No winner last month. We still have a few openings on that board to end out the year.

NACC approved a donation of $50.00 to the Ruth Lyons Coon Hunt that’s being held Saturday Dec. 7 at Sunman Fish & Game.

The Dillon Rullman Eagle Scout Flag Pole Project construction has been completed and will be reviewed by the board on Saturday, December 7. A big thank you to Dillon for selecting us to be apart of one of his great accomplishments in scouts.

Indiana Wildlife Federation – IWF announced their annual conference is on February 1, 2025 at the Wyndham Indianapolis West Motel, 2544 Executive Dr., Indianapolis, IN 45241 (out by airport) To register for the event, go to www.indiana wildlife.org Looking back on 2024, Executive Director Dan Boritt says it was a good year for IWF. The Certified Wildlife Habitat program continued to grow, and are thrilled to have partnered with Garden for Wildlife to support more options for buyers of native plants. IWF’s Sustainable Trails Program unveiled its 15th certified trail at Conner Prairie. And are nearing completion of their most ambitious trail, on the Central Indiana Land Trusts’ “Betley’s Woods at Glaciers End.” area. IWF held dozens of programs throughout the state educating Hoosiers on ways to improve wildlife habitat through native plantings and invasive plant removal. Native Plants Sales have began and orders can be submitted on their website for spring planting. Donations are accepted and can be made payable to IWF, at Indiana Wildlife Federation, PO Box 55245, Indianapolis, IN 46205-0245.
