NACC is looking for 15 or more children in the 5th or 6th  grade who would be interested in attending the Indiana Conservation Officer  Organization’s – ICOO  Karl Kelly Youth Conservation Camp, which will be held this coming summer in June (usually the third week) for 7 days.  NACC will select children who sign up by February 1, 2024.  The cost of the camp is paid for by NACC.  If your child, nephew, niece or grandchildren likes  outdoor adventure, this camp is a must for them.  It is a full week of fun that they will enjoy and remember for a long time.    You can check out their website,   www.icoo.com  where you can view past information at this time and after the first of year, the new information will be available.   Remember  all registration must go through the NACC for us to pay.  Providing  the child’s name, a contact person and phone number and e-mail address are essential to enter and complete our camp forms.  CONTACT  NACC Secretary, Dale Back at  [email protected] or text 812-212-2601 to register.  Don’t wait to long, we already have 3 campers on the list!  Last year we sent 11 kids, let’s try to beat that number this year!

NACC annual Membership is now due for the upcoming 2024 year.  Enclosed is an application form for you to submit.  We know some of our members pay for multiple years in advance.  To see when your dues are paid through, look at the envelope this letter came in.  Right above your name is the date your dues are paid up to.  Thank you for your support.  Now you still have this unused membership application, don’t through it away, go out and sign up a new member for the NACC.  We welcome new members.

We would like to thank Jennifer KLump for getting and installing the new curtains in the club house this past month.

The NACC made our annual contribution of $50.00 to the Ruth Lyon Coon Hunt that was held on Dec. 2 at the Sunman Fish & Game. All of their proceeds go to supporting the Ruth Lyon’s Children Fund that helps make a child’s  hospital stay more  comfortable throughout the year.

WATCH OUT FOR INVASIVE SPOTTED LANTERFLY! The local paper, The Register reported that the IDNR confirmed the Spotted Lanternfly is in the Northern Indiana Counties of Elkhart, Porter, and St. Joseph next to railroad lines.  This being the third region of the state, joining Switzerland Co. 2021, and Huntington Co. 2022.  It is now found in many Eastern states as well, as along the rail lines in Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland  & Toledo in Ohio and in Chicago.  The plant-hopper originated in Asia and has adverse affects on fruit orchards, nurseries and the logging and wine industries.   Last month, the IDNR Director, Dan Bortner pointed out in the their Outdoor Indiana magazine, have now trained the DNR K-9 unit and their canine co-workers to help hunt down these pest before they hatch during their  nursery inspections led by inspector Kallie Bontrager and her trained Australian shepherds, Que and Epic.
