SCATTER BOARD WINNER – Split the Shot last month – was Jimmy Sterwerf
EXECUTIVE BOARD SEMI-ANNUAL MEETING – The meeting was called to order. All board members were present except our past president, Rob Seig. Copies of the past executive board meetings were reviewed by members starting with the list of maintenance items still needing done. A couple were completed and two more added. Notably the property and club house need cleaned for the upcoming Golf Outing. A Work Day is scheduled for Saturday, September 7 at 9am. Help is needed to clean!!! We also need to replace one board in the deck and repair a leg on a picnic table too.
Also, the board reviewed our treasury account to see where we stand. As of June 30,2024 total cash in the treasury was $34,208.69. Of that amount, are monies dedicated to the Mark Lewis Memorial Fund for campers, $9374.39; Eagle Scout Project, $1720.00; Mowing property yet, $600.00; Pond spraying, $400.00; Front Porch add-on $0.00 – estimated needed yet, which equal total dedicated funds of $12,094.39. And that leaves available operating cash of $22,114.30. Other business reviewed: Our state and federal forms are in compliance. The Ben Dall Award will happen in 2025. Our membership/rental policy of property is going well. Our Tanner’s Creek property is in need of tree trimming and clean up, along with the Ennis Creek bridge being inspected again, all to make it more useful for members to use.
Eagle Scout Project of Dillon Rullman update: Dillon has collected $1720.00 towards his goal of $2500.00. More donations are needed! Dillon’s dad expressed a concern of not meeting the goal of $2500 and may have to redesign the project. NACC members voted and passed to cover the shortfall of donations, so Dillon can complete his project as designed.
NACC’s 18th Annual Golf Outing is being held September 14 at Brook Hill Golf Course. All to benefit sending kids to the conservation camp. Tee time is 8:00 am. Breakfast being served at 7 am. Prime Rib dinner and drinks following the outing at our club house, with award presentations. Workers are needed! It was stated by Co-Chair Slugger that no advertising was needed as all 26 teams (one less than last year per golf course) were filled with past golfers or from the waiting list to get in. Chairman Casey is
soliciting for Hole Sponsors now, if you would like to sponsor or know of someone the minimum donation is $100. For questions call Casey 812-577-5078 or Slugger 812-221-0397.
Boy Hasn’t it been Hot & Humid !!! Every season is warming at a faster rate, particularly winter in the midwest, says Trent Ford, Illinois state climatologist at the University of Illinois. In general this weather pattern negatively impacts livestock production with heat stress, forage quality issues and increased diseases. For livestock and human stress, the nighttime temperatures are more predictive of problems, because the night is when recovery happens from the heat that has accumulated during the day. We have fewer summer nights getting below 60 degrees now, allowing heat stress to accumulate with the warm nights. And this trend is projected to continue mainly due to the increase humidity caused by the increase of precipitation. The One Health initiative, Ford said, is focused on understanding that human, animal and environmental health are all liked together. “If one of these fail or is not given the attention it deserves, then everything will fail.” Healthy animal production is essential for human health, Ford said. When we think about climate change, any impact to any of these, impacts the entire system,” he added. Indiana Agrinews, 2-9-24
