NACC Newsletter – April 2024

NACC’s next meeting to be held on Wednesday, April 10, at 7 pm in the club house.

CLEAN UP YARD AREA IS SCHEDULED BEFORE MEETING AT 5 PM. Also there are other items on the list in club house. I would like to thank everyone who came out for last month’s Saturday clean up day…….a great turnout and a lot was accomplished.

Our 36th Annual Fishing Derby is May 4. at Lake in the Pines. The derby starts at 7am and ends at 3pm with awards following. Registration will begin at 6 am derby day and continue until 12:30.We have a lot of great prizes again this year for the Adult 12 and older category where the fee is $18.00 and the Children under 12 category that are free to register. Each category will be fishing for Catfish, Bass and Blue Gill and judged by the biggest fish by weight. We also have a Special Catch prize for the 1st Tagged Catfish
turned in. And we will have lots of door prizes to give away for those registered fishermen. The club will have a lunch stand at the pavilion for your convenience. Rain or shine we look forward to seeing you at the derby, bring your kids, grand kids and friends for an enjoyable day. No license required. We have included a derby flier for you to put up, to help get the word out.

DERBY WORKERS – FRIDAY EVENING, MAY 3 MEET AT 5PM AT THE CLUB HOUSE TO SETUP FOR DERBY
SATURDAY MORNING at club house ARRIVE BY 5:30 AM because registration begins at 6 am. Last years workers should were their orange NACC work shirt that was given to them. Any new volunteer workers should contact Dale. We do have new hats for this year’s derby !!!
SATURDAY MORNING at Pavilion arrive no later than 6:30 am – derby starts at 7 am.

Derby committee members need to finalize and finish collecting their sponsor donations, if they haven’t done so. Thanks You!

GUN RAFFLE TICKETS are still available for sale. Raffle is to be held on June 12, 2024 at the club house meeting. We are giving away a Winchester XPR Hunter .243 22″, Blued and Mossy Oak Camo, and an option for In store Credit if you don’t need that particular rifle. We are only selling 250 tickets. Each Ticket cost $10.00.

Our tree seedling order was picked up by Dave Henlein and his wife Skip. All trees have been distributed. Dale will have some two year old white pine seedlings for planting, they’re free and available at this meeting in April.

Arbor Day is April 26 – Plant a tree…….. Also, April 22 is Earth Day. What a good time to plant some habitat seeds or native wild flowers to enhance your yard and adjoining areas.

Dale reported that our Federal 990 form has been filed with the government on 3-2-24 to stay in compliance. Trustees reported that they will be adding Copper Sulfate to the pond to control some of the under growth showing up in it.

Eagle Scout Project of Dillon Rullman update – He has filed the Project Fundraising Application with the Scout Council. Dillon’s goal is to raise $2500.00 and is planning to start his fundraising sometime here in April. His plan is to start the project this coming June. The NACC will be accepting donations towards Dillon’s Flag Pole Project. Please consider supporting this project.

Dearborn County Soil & Water District is having their annual Indiana Native Plant Sale. Order deadline is May 3. For info. call 812-926-2406, ext. 3 or email: [email protected]
