NACC Newsletter – January 2023

NACC’s next meeting to be held on Wednesday, January 11, at 7 pm in the club house.

HAND GUN RAFFLE WINNER was Lisa Becker – Thanks for everyone’s help in making this another successful event.

We opened  nominations for the 2023 Election of officers and trustees again at the December meeting.   Nominations for  officers and trustee are: Pres. – Chuck Schmeltzer, VP – Casey Gilmore, Treasurer – Richard Kuebel, Secretary – Dale Back,  Trustee (3 yr term) – Dave Henlein. All were elected.  Congratulations to all. We want to thank Aaron True for his past trustee terms he served.   Also, we would like to recognize the following board members who continue to serve: Trustee Slugger Kuebel, Trustee  Gutz Callahan and Past President Rob Seig.  We all are looking forward to having another great year and we encourage you to continue your support of NACC board.

NACC is looking for 15 or more children in the 5th or 6th  grade who would be interested in attending the Indiana Conservation Officer  Organization – ICOO  Karl Kelly Youth Conservation Camp, which will be held this coming summer in June (usually the third week) for 7 days.  NACC will select children who sign up by February 1, 2023.  The cost of the camp is paid for by NACC.  If your child, nephew, niece or grandchildren like outdoor adventure, this camp is a must for them.  It is a full week of fun that they will enjoy and remember for a long time.    You can check out their website,   www.icoo.com  where you can view past information at this time, and after the first of year, the new information will be available as in the past.   Remember  all registration must go through the NACC for us to pay.  Providing  the child’s name, a contact person and cell phone number and e-mail address are essential to enter and complete our camp forms.  CONTACT  NACC secretary, Dale Back at  backdale@gmail.com or text 812-212-2601 to register.  Don’t wait to long, we already have 8 campers on the list.

Members at our last meeting discussed  naming / or renaming the NACC Karl E. Kelly Conservation Camp program that was stated this way for many years.  We wanted to recognize the founder of the golf event that has sent many children through this camp. Although I must say, our first golf outing 18 years ago wasn’t designated to send kids to camp. Its proceeds were deposited in the general fund.  But ever since that 2nd golf outing discussion, and wanting to make this a worthy cause for NACC to promote and support,  One of our most honored and active members of past suggested the club dedicate all proceeds from our golf outings  be used to sending kids to this camp.  We would like to dedicate this program to Mark Lewis by naming it the “Mark Lewis Memorial Fund” for   Karl E. Kelly Conservation Summer Camp.   So as we move forward, our club will always remember what a great man Mark was on that day when he tossed his idea out to the membership to vote on, and they agreed unanimously.  Currently, the Mark Lewis Memorial Fund has on deposit $10,991.58.  Thank you all for your continued support of such a great event.  Thank you Don Boehringer for bringing this up.

SUPER BOWL & WILDGAME PITCH-IN DINNER to be held Sunday February 12, (providing the NFL doesn’t change the date)  at our Club House beginning at 4:00 pm.  The party is open to members and non- members, past members and friends.  If your one that doesn’t  have a wild game dish, bring your favorite party dish for all to enjoy. Refreshments will be provided.  There will be games to play while enjoying the game on the big screen.

January 18, Wednesday at 6:30 is our Annual Executive Board meeting to audit our books and to plan out the upcoming years events.  All board members are encouraged to be present.
