NACC Newsletter – January 2020

NACC’s next meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 8th , at 7 pm in the club house.

NACC ANNUAL GUN SAFE RAFFLE WINNER  – Kathy  Schmeltzer won the 48 gun safe and is giving it to her son.

NACC 2020 Officer Nominations & Elections –   Nominations were re-opened at the December meeting and followed by elections . The following are the NACC’s 2020 Elected Officials: President – Chuck Schmeltzer,  Vice-President – Dave Henlein, Treasurer – Richard Kuebel, Secretary – Dale Back,  (1)Trustee  3 yr term – Aaron True. 

Our other two 2020  trustees  are:  Slugger Kuebel, who is in his 3rd year of term and   Gutz Callahan, who is in his 2nd year of term.  And our Past President is currently Rob Seig.

I would like to thank everyone of our officers for their continued support and dedication to the club. And I would like to thank all members for renewing their dues and supporting the mission of  our conservation club.  It takes all of us together to make the NACC.

With the donations from “in memory of Mark Lewis” the NACC is now looking for  17  children in the 5th or 6th  grade who would be interested in attending the Indiana Conservation Officer  Organization – ICOO  Karl Kelly Youth Conservation Camp, which will be held this coming summer in June (usually the third week) for 7 days.  NACC will select children who sign up by February 1, 2020.  The cost of the camp is paid for by NACC.  If your child, nephew, niece or grandchildren like outdoor adventure, this camp is a must for them.  It is a full week of fun that they will enjoy and remember for a long time.  Contact Rob Seig  for more info.   robseig@seigsurveying.com    812-209-9099 .   You can check out their website,   www.icoo.com  where you can view past information at this time and after the first of year, the new information will be available,  as in the past.   Remember  all registration must go through the NACC for us to pay.  Providing  the child’s name, a contact person and phone number and e-mail address are essential to enter and complete our camp forms.  You can also, e-mail NACC secretary, Dale Back at  backdale@gmail.com   for updates.

NACC SUPER BOWL WILDGAME PITCH-IN DINNER will be heldSunday, February 2 at Klump’s Tavern side party room,  Doors will open around 3:30 pm.  Bring your favorite wild game or non-wild game dish for all to enjoy.  Refreshments will be provided.  This is a great time to bring a friend or guest to meet members of NACC.  This is our only membership drive each year, so stop by & sign up.

INDIANA WILDLIFE FEDERATION ANNUAL CONFERENCE to be held on Saturday, January 18 – 9am to 4pm  at Fort Harrison State Park, Indianapolis.  IWF member registration is $40.00 includes catered lunch.  There will be keynote speaker, Naomi Edelson, NWF Senior Director to talk on Wildlife Partnerships, along with four other speakers presenting:  Indiana Wildlife Action Plan, Indiana Bobcat Population, Climate Change Impacts on Wildlife, and Return of  Trumpeter Swans to Indiana.  Go to:  www.indianawildlife.org/2020conference  for more info

NACC approved an EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT, presented by James Bulach at our last meeting.  James a resident of New Alsace, would like us (members) to   submit ideas to the club and him at this January meeting for review and discussion ,that could be used for his project on NACC property.  If you can’t make it to the meeting, e-mail to secretary, (info below) your ideas.

Did you know East Central H. S. has a Bass Fishing Club? Teachers Jessica Gilmore and Sara Hylton are leading this group of  9-12 grade anglers since the beginning of the school year. They are sanctioned through the SAF – Student Anglers Federation affiliated with the Bass Federation, which organizes state tournaments for students to participate in.  Student members do need help with sponsorship, Contact Jessica : jrgilmour@sunmandearborn.k12.in.us or  812-576-4811, ext.11706   Thanks Jessica for bring’ this to our attention.

2020 MEMBERSHIP DUES are now being collected.  NACC dues annually are $12.00  and you can pick up  an affiliate Indiana Wildlife Federation for the discounted  fee of $20.00 (optional)   mail to:  New Alsace Conservation Club, PO Box 302, Sunman, IN  47041  “There is strength in numbers”!  NOTE:  SOME MEMBERS HAVE PAID MULTIPLY YEARS IN ADVANCE. IF YOUR ONE OF THEM, DISREGARD THIS NOTICE:  IF YOU’RE NOT SURE, CHECK THE FRONT OF THE ENVELOPE THIS LETTER CAME IN.   ABOVE YOU NAME IS A DATE – THIS IS HOW LONG YOUR DUES ARE PAID THROUGH.

Remember when using the club grounds,  leave it looking as it was or better.  Carry all trash out with you.  Thanks.
